Oct 21, 2023Apple Working To Switch To MicroLED On iPhone But The Apple Watch Ultra Will be The First To Get it
Apple has big plans for the future as far as the iPhone is concerned. While we may not see a foldable iPhone any time soon, the company is working on a wide range of technologies that will reimagine the iPhone. According to the latest, Apple is working on microLED display technology for the iPhone, but it will not be the first Apple product to get it. MicroLED display features a plethora of benefits over OLED panels, and Apple is in the works to bring the technology to its entire product line. Check out more details on microLED displays and what advantages it holds over OLED panels.
According to a paywalled report shared by DigiTimes, Apple has plans to release an iPhone with a microLED display in the future. While the device may not be the first to introduce the technology, it will be released sometime soon. It is important to note that the iPhone is part of Apple's transition to microLED panels from OLED. The report mentions that the Apple Watch Ultra will be the first device to rock a microLED panel which is slated to release by the end of 2024 or 2025.
Apart from the Apple Watch and iPhone, Apple also has plans to bring the technology to future iPad models. It can be speculated that only the iPad Pro models will feature the technology in the beginning. Later on, Apple could offer the new display on its iPad Air lineup. Currently, only the 12.9-inch iPad Pro features a mini-LED panel. Henceforth, be sure to take these speculations with a grain of salt.
Currently, Apple has plans to switch to OLED panels on the iPad, and if rumors have any heft to it, we might see the launch of the first OELD iPad next year. The device will feature an M3 chip and potentially a glass back for wireless and reverse wireless charging capabilities. If all goes according to plan, we will see the first microLED display on a new model of the Apple Watch Ultra.
The benefits a microLED display holds over an OLED panel are enhanced brightness levels, lower power consumption, and improved contrast ratio. Henceforth, a microLED display on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch would make a lot of sense. We will keep you guys updated on the latest, so be sure to stick around.
