Apple is gearing up for the launch of iPhone 15 series. The series has been tipped to come with various new features.

Apple has announced the WWDC 2023 event, where it is expected to unveil t iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, and watchOS 10. The company will likely launch the MR headset, Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra chip, and MacBook Air 15-inch. The US giant plans to change significantly with the forthcoming iPhone 15 series. The upcoming series include iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. One significant change would be the shifting to USB type-C port to adhere to EU laws. A new report claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro series would feature a customizable action button.

A member of the MacRumors forum has shared the details of the customizable action button with the upcoming 15 Pro series smartphones. He is the same guy who tipped about the introduction of Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro series.

The member said that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would replace the Ring/Silent switch present in iPhones from 2007. The action button will be similar to Apple Watch Ultra, allowing users to customize their preferences. However, the exact details of the functions are unknown at the moment. The publication shared some tasks that can be mapped to the action button.

The functions that can be mapped to the action button are similar to the ones that can be accessed using the Back Tap function. The Back Tap function was introduced with iOS 14 and can be accessed by tapping the back of the iPhone. For those unaware of the feature, it can be accessed under the Accessibility menu in the Settings app.

Earlier, it was tipped that the Pro series would feature a button replacing the mute switch. The smartphones will also be equipped with a new ultra-low energy microprocessor to perform certain functions when the handset's battery drains. The processor would allow the new capacitive solid-state buttons to remain functional despite turning off the phone.

The upcoming iPhones are also expected to feature a solid-state single-volume button which will provide haptic feedback while changing volumes. The haptic feedback would be similar to the home button from iPhone 7 and above. Other changes include Dynamic Island as standard with all iPhone models. The CAD renders of the smartphone also revealed that it would feature a type C port instead of a lightning port.
